Being a Blessing

Scripture: Proverbs 11:25 MSG
“The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed; those who help others are helped.”

Let’s take a moment to reflect on this simple yet powerful truth from Proverbs 11:25. The Message Bible lays it out clearly: “The one who blesses others is abundantly blessed; those who help others are helped.” It’s one of those verses that resonates deeply because it holds a promise that God’s people can stand on, no matter what season we’re in.

Life has a way of throwing challenges at us—sometimes all at once. It can feel like we’re barely holding it together, with more needs than answers. And yet, God calls us to step outside of our circumstances and focus on others. It’s a bold move of faith, but here’s the beauty: when we bless others, God takes care of us in ways we can’t imagine.

Let’s be real for a second. Blessing others doesn’t always come when it’s easy or convenient. Sometimes, you’re running on fumes—physically, emotionally, or financially—and you hear that nudge from God saying, “Give.” You look around, wondering what you have left to offer. But I’ve learned over the years that when you pour out, even from a place of scarcity, God has a way of refilling your cup until it’s overflowing.

Think about Jesus. His whole life was about giving, even when it wasn’t easy. He didn’t wait for perfect circumstances to pour into others. Even on His way to the cross, He stopped to heal, to forgive, to serve. That’s the heart of our Savior—always outward-focused, always giving.

We’re called to follow His example. Being a blessing isn’t about waiting until life is perfect or until we feel “ready.” It’s about trusting God to use what we have, no matter how small it seems, to make a difference in someone else’s life. And here’s the incredible thing: when we shift our focus outward, we open the door for God to do something amazing in our own lives.

You see, being a blessing isn’t just about the other person—it’s about what happens in you, too. It changes your perspective. It shifts your focus from what’s missing to what’s possible. It reminds you that you’re part of something bigger than yourself, a Kingdom where giving and receiving go hand in hand.

So, who can you bless today? It might be a word of encouragement, a helping hand, or simply taking the time to listen. Whatever it is, know that as you give, God sees it. And in His perfect timing, He’ll pour back into your life in ways that go beyond what you could ask or think.

Let this truth encourage you: God doesn’t just ask us to bless others—He promises to take care of us when we do. That’s His design, and it’s always faithful.

Let’s live it out today. Be a blessing, walk in confidence, and trust that you are abundantly blessed.
