Do Something: Keep Planting, Keep Trusting

Galatians 6:9 says, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

This verse is a call to action, a nudge to those of us who might be feeling worn out, discouraged, or stuck. It’s easy to grow tired when you’ve been giving your best—at work, at home, in your relationships—and it feels like you’re not getting anywhere. But let me remind you: God sees the seeds you’re planting. And if you keep planting, keep trusting, and keep showing up, His Word promises that a harvest is coming in due season.

Now, here’s the thing about a harvest: it doesn’t come overnight. Any farmer will tell you, there’s a process. First, you prepare the soil, then you plant the seed, and then comes the waiting. It’s during the waiting season that many of us grow weary. But Galatians 6:9 is clear—don’t give up! The harvest is coming, and when it does, you’ll see that all the effort, the prayers, the tears, and the sacrifices were worth it.

Take Action: Do Something

I recently thought about a speech Michelle Obama gave at the 2024 Democratic National Convention. In it, she challenged people not to sit idly by in frustration or despair but to do something. That’s a word for us today. If you’re tired of the chaos in the world, do something. If you’re frustrated with the state of your community, do something. If you’re wondering why things haven’t changed in your life, ask yourself, “What can I do to move forward?”

And no, I’m not saying you have to take on the whole world or solve every problem. Sometimes, “doing something” is as simple as showing kindness to a stranger, lending a helping hand, or being faithful in the small tasks God has given you.

Keep Trusting in the Waiting

One of the greatest lessons I’ve learned is this: just because you don’t see the fruit right away doesn’t mean God isn’t working. Some seeds take longer to grow. But every act of faith, every step of obedience, every moment of doing good—it all matters. God has not forgotten you or the work you’re doing. He’s orchestrating things behind the scenes in ways you can’t even imagine.

When you feel like quitting, remember this: you’re not working for human applause or immediate results; you’re working for God’s glory. And His timing is always perfect.

Challenge for the Week

This week, I challenge you to do something that reflects God’s love. It doesn’t have to be big, but make it meaningful. Smile at someone who looks like they’re having a tough day. Pray for a friend who’s struggling. Volunteer your time, or simply encourage someone who needs a reminder of their worth.

God is calling us to action, not passivity. He’s inviting us to step into the work He’s already doing. So don’t grow weary. Don’t stop planting those good seeds. Trust Him for the harvest.

Final Word

As you go through your day, let this truth sink deep into your spirit: the good work you’re doing is not in vain. You may not see it now, but a harvest is on the way. Keep pressing forward, keep trusting God, and keep doing something.

Remember, you don’t have to be perfect to make a difference—you just have to be willing. So step out, and trust that God will use your efforts in ways you can’t even imagine.

Your harvest is coming. Stay faithful. Keep planting. And whatever you do—do something.
